Kindergarteners
Support your Kinder!
Kindergarten is a milestone for you and your five-year-old. Eager to face the known and unknown, play and exploration help to enrich the day. Follow your child's interests and you will see your child sustain focus for long periods of time and continue to explore.
Your child's conversations will become more adult-like as he/she learns to match subject and verb. A willing listener, participant, and turn taker, your child begins to undersand why events happen. Time related words such as in two weeks, yesterday, tomorrow, and next year make sense now.
Alphabet letters become familiar and the pleasure of writing his/her own name and other words pleases your child. Numbers expand into a variety of mathematical ideas and words. Competence builds each day. Self-confidence blooms from taking care of himself/herself, tying shoes, brushing teeth, writing letters, reading picture books, balancing on a bicycle, and learning other life-long skills such as swimming.
Encourage your kinder to attempt new experiences and build new friendships. Your kinder will make unintended mistakes! Support rediscovery and self-correction.
Take pleasure in your child's competency and self-confidence. Growth brings change!
